One of the dreams of every secondary school student is to gain admission into a tertiary institution to study courses like Medicine, Anatomy, Accounting, etc. Graduate with good grades, and work in their admired sector.

Every year, JAMB candidates apply into various schools to study various courses. This article is targeted at people who want to study Anatomy at Ebonyi State University.

About Ebonyi State University

Ebonyi State University (EBSU) is one of the best state universities in eastern Nigeria. It boasts to offer several courses ranging from medical science courses, law, banking etc.

Anatomy is a four-year degree-awarding program that exposes students to the internal structures of humans and the various changes and differences in them. It is an essential part of medicine.

There are however some requirements to study anatomy at Ebonyi State University.

General JAMB requirements

Admission to study Anatomy can be gained either through Direct Entry or UTME.

Applicants for this course through Direct Entry must possess at least five SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:

  • English Language
  • Biology
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry.

Applicants through UTME, are required to have at least five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

The average JAMB cut-off mark for all courses is 180.

For UTME candidates the subject combination to study anatomy includes: Biology, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry, and English Language.

Departmental cut-off mark

Ebonyi State University also has some requirements for admission to study anatomy.

Although the general JAMB cut-off to study all courses is 180, the university’s cut-off is fixed at 190.

School fees for Anatomy

The school fees for the courses under the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences (FBMS) which Anatomy is N80,000 for 100 level( for indigenes). Non-indigenes pay N140,000 as freshers and N120,000 as continuing students. This is excluding the acceptance fee paid by freshers upon the acceptance of their admission.

Hostel accommodation

Ebonyi State University (EBSU) consists of four campuses. Basic Medical students stay in the Campus located at a place called Ezza Road. The campus is popularly known as Presco.

Presco Campus has both male and female hostels. You can choose to either stay in the school’s campus or stay in a private lodge. Either way, just ensure your place of residence is not far from the school.

Useful advice for freshers

Life as a fresher in school, not just Ebonyi State University, is usually challenging because you do not know your way around.

One tip is to become friends with those in classes ahead of you and ask them questions when you’re confused (Be careful here).

Also, as much as possible, keep calm, never allow pressure to get the best of you.

Lastly, set your priorities right and use your time wisely.
