I Am Ready For Trial ― Dasuki

Retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, the former National Security Adviser (NSA) who was released after 4 years of detention said he is ready for trial.

He served as the NSA under the administration of former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Mr Dasuki was arrested by the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, over misappropriation of public fund to the tune of N19.4 billion.

The former NSA was charged with a 25-count charge along with former Minister of State for Finance, Amb. Bashir Yuguda. Also a former Sokoto State governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, his son, Sagir and his company, Dalhatu Investment Limited.

He was released few days to Christmas alongside the RevolutionNow movement convener, Mr Omoyele Sowore.

Mr Dasuki while appreciating his family and everyone who stood by him throughout his detention said he is innocent, willing and ready to attend court sessions in continuation of his trial to prove his innocence.

Mr Dasuki said he stopped appearing in court as a protest against the government’s disregard for the court orders about his trial.

“I stopped going to the court because I was granted bail by several courts but the government refused to release me and I said whenever the bail order is complied with I will appear before the court and defend myself,” he said.

“I cannot adequately express my appreciation to Nigerians who genuinely and fervently prayed for my release.

“There are no words enough to show appreciation to all the prayers offered for me over my predicament. I am indeed very grateful to all Nigerians.”

Mr Dasuki also debunked the rumour that his detention was Buhari’s revenge for the role he played when his (Buhari) military government was overthrown in 1985.

“As a Muslim, I believe in predestination and leave everything to Almighty God.

Ignorance and lack of faith are what make people think their fellow man can cause them any harm or evil.”
