Orji Kalu Conviction: More Looters Should Be Jailed ― Ohanaeze Ndigbo

Igbo Youths under the aegis of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has urged the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari and the anti-corruption agencies to go after other corrupt politicians in the country.

The group argued there are more corrupt politicians in the country and that the hunt should not stop with the recently convicted former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

In a press statement signed by the group’s president general, Mr Okechukwu Isiguzoro and made available to Lanre News by its secretary-general, Mr Okwu Nnabuike, Ohanaeze Youth says it has compiled a list of some corrupt politicians in its three (3) pages petition to the president.

“There are over 69 politicians who had been shortlisted from South East in Our three Pages Petition addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, including 3 Former Governors, one Current Southeast Governor,6 serving Senators and 12 Rep member and others, We are cleansing South East,I hope other Ethnic nationalities Youths will sanitise their Zones.” The statement reads in part.

The press statement in full;

(1) Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide viewed the recent pronouncement by the Federal High Court Lagos, sentencing Senator Orji Kalu for the 7.65bn looted during his tenure as Abia State Governor, with others as a clear evidence that President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime is impartial and sincere in his Anti Corruption Crusade and effort towards strengthening institutions against powerful politicians irrespective of party affiliation.

STORY for YOU: Former Abia Gov, Orji Kalu Jailed 12 Years For Fraud, Money Laundering

The conviction of Orji Kalu contradicts the beliefs that APC is a safe haven for looters but it shows that looters seeking refuge in APC and those seen as sacred cows and untouchables may not escape the full weight of the law, having betrayed people’s trust through siphoning huge funds meant for development and dividends of democracy.

(2) Sen Orji Kalu will definitely appeal the Court Judgement that sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment over corruption charges and theft of 7.65bn of Abia State government money, but this judgement is an eye-opener for Nigerians that joining APC, will not absolve any corrupt politician from being jailed, as we Plead with President Muhammadu Buhari to jail more Former Governors whose corruption cases have been swept under the carpet,no Politician should be spared on the fight against Corruption, APC should sanitise their party by jailing those who had pending cases of corruption in courts.

(3) Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide angrily uncovered unexpectedly some corrupt practices by politicians during the visit of NDDC acting Managing director Dr Joi Nuneih to Abia State who brought entries of roads marked Completed which one of biggest scam of the Year uncovered, Ohanku Road Aba marked completed with 1 billion naira remained impasse,as its the highest betrayal of people’s trust,

And Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth had shortlisted those politicians behind many scams in South East in our three Pages Petition addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari and copied to EFCC for the law to take its full cause,those who had squandered the people’s money should spend greater part their lives in Jail to serve as a deterrent for those in governance against looting spree that we had witnessed since 1999, with full autonomy passed by National Assembly for 774 LGAs,

There will be less embezzlement in State Government houses in Nigeria, monumental frauds committed in the name governance while in Government should meet Senator Orji Kalu’s fate,

There are over 69 politicians who had been shortlisted from South East in our three pages Petition addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, including 3 Former Governors, one Current Southeast Governor,6 serving Senators and 12 Rep member and others,

We are cleansing South East, hope other Ethnic nationalities Youths will sanitise their own too.
