A 20-year-old lady, Obanla Sade, on Wednesday appeared in a Magistrates’ Court in Adu-Ekiti for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
The police charged Sade, whose address was not given with assault.
The prosecution counsel, Sgt. Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug.11 around 7 a.m at Odo Aremu in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant assaulted Sgt. Ilesanmi Lawrence, attached to Ado Central Division Okesa, Ado-Ekiti and tore his uniform while executing his lawful duty.
Apata said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 356(1) (2) (3) and (5) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Adebowale Adelusi, prayed the court to grant his client bail in liberal terms.
Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until September 1 for hearing.
