Arise TV’s Oseni Rufai appears in court, found guilty, fined N70,000 for passing BRT Lane — Police

Arise TV news anchor, Rufai Oseni has been found guilty by a Lagos Mobile Court of contravening Lagos State Transport Law of 2018.

Mr Oseni’s car was seized on Monday after he drove on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane.

The journalist had claimed a policeman pointed a gun at him over the incident despite saying he would pay a fine for the infraction. The police said his allegation will be investigated.

Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin said in a tweet that the court fined Oseni N70,000 for the infraction.

“Mr Rufai Oseni was in court earlier today. He was found guilty of contravening Lagos State Transport Law (2018).

“He was subsequently fined Seventy Thousand Naira Only. He made the payment, after which his vehicle was released to him,” Hundeyin wrote.

A video of Oseni’s clash with the police went viral on Tuesday. In the video, the enraged journalist threatens to call Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the policemen.

“I will call the governor,” he tells the policemen.
