Mr Abayomi Omomuwa, managing director, Lekki Concession Company, has revealed that the Lekki Toll Gate had earlier belonged to private investors until it was acquired by the Lagos State government in 2014.
Mr Omomuwa disclosed this while he was being interrogated by the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry.
The panel investigating the alleged shooting and killing of #EndSARS protesters at the toll gate among other alleged crimes conducted by the defunct police unit, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS,) asked the LCC MD how much the company lost during the protest.

In his response, he said the company cannot ascertain its loss during the protests. He also stated he was indifferent as regarding the occupation of the tollgate by the protesters.
According to a report by Punch, he said; “I believe that is the business of the company, not something to discuss in public.”
But when further pressed the LCC MD said, “It is obvious, when toll is not collected, revenue is lost?”
However, The Punch had earlier reported the state lost N234m during the first 9 days of the protest.
