When making a choice of what course you want to study and the university where you want to study that course, there is a need to check into some certain factors.

However, we are talking about Industrial Chemistry today.

What is Industrial Chemistry?

Industrial Chemistry is a branch of chemistry that deals with the industrial applications of chemistry which involve the processing of raw materials into finished products through series of processes and reactors.

Since chemistry has a wide array of applications industrially, an Industrial Chemist has a great privilege of working in several industries and departments which include:

The post-JAMB cutoff mark for Industrial Chemistry depends on the number of students that chose the course.

In recent times at the University of Ibadan, there is what we call “Aggregate Score” which is calculated as JAMB score divided by 8 plus post-JAMB score divided by 2.

The cut-off mark for Industrial Chemistry in the University of Ibadan for the past 4 years are 50, 56, 58.87, and 56 for 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019, and 2020/2021 sessions, respectively.

Illustrating this, assuming you got 300 out of 400 in your JAMB and got 65 out of 100 in your post-JAMB, that implies that your aggregate score will be 70% which automatically guarantees your merit entry into the department.

Finally, it is an achievement and prestige to be admitted to study at the University of Ibadan. However, survival in school is like crossing a set of hurdles.

It is a popular saying in the school that if you can successfully cross the first semester of your first year in the school, then you have built a solid foundation for your higher levels.

Surviving as an Industrial Chemistry student especially in the first semester of your first year requires a lot of hard work and focus.

Most new students feel that their first year is for enjoyment and end up failing at the end of the first semester.

Have it in mind that there would be different kinds of distractions. Nevertheless, you must maintain your focus to achieve your set goal.
