Tinubu/Shettima: Funny photos as Nigerian youths trend #BishopChallenge

The All Progressive Congress (APC) and its presidential candidates, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima have over the last few days been criticised for allegedly hiring fake bishops to attend the unveiling of Shettima as the 2023 Vice Presidential candidate of the party.

This is amidst the uproar over the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party (APC).

Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna state chapter, has distanced itself from the Bishops who were at the official unveiling of the former Governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima as the running mate of the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Rev. John Joseph Hayab, the Kaduna state CAN Chairman, said in an interview that Christians in the country would not lose sleep following the Tinubu/Shettima presidential candidate in next year’s presidential election.

According to Rev. Hayab, who is also the CAN chairman of 19 Northern states and FCT, “the people we saw at the unveiling of Shettima as the presidential running mate to Bola Tinubu paraded as Bishops are people who did not have enough time to learn how to wear Bishop’s garments. Take a closer look at their photo and you will see another Nollywood movie.”

In defence, the Tinubus Support Organisation claimed that the Bishops are not fake. According to the group’s Director of Media and Public relations, Bayo Onanuga, “those clergymen were not fake, not mechanics or yam sellers as the purveyors of hatred have made Nigerians to believe in the social media. They are not big names in Christendom yet, they are gradually building up their missions”.

As a vibe nation, Nigerian youths have started a trend #BishopChallenge using different funny wears to depict the Bishops at the ceremony.
