Aisha Buhari Calls on IGP For Aides Release as Fresh Evidence Emerges

The first lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari, reputable for calling out people in power who treads on her toes, on Friday, through a post on her Twitter handle “call on the IGP to release my assigned Staff “.

Aisha raised concern that they are at risk of contracting the new coronavirus (COVID-19) while in police custody.

“I call on the IGP to release my assigned Staff who are still in the custody of the Police in order to avoid putting their lives in danger or exposure to Covid-19 while in their custody.”

A report by HumAngle stated that the first lady’s aides were allegedly arrested following an order by Tunde Sabiu, an influential personal assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The first lady’s tweet started with the need for the enforcement of the President’s directives on interstate movement.

“That Covid-19 is real and still very much around in our nation is not in doubt. Consequently, I call on all relevant Government Agencies to enforce the Quarantine Act signed by Mr President and ensure no one is found violating this law and the NCDC guidelines

“especially on interstate travel without the necessary exemptions for movement of essentials. Anyone who does that should at the very least be made to under go a 14 days mandatory isolation no matter who the person is, no one should be above the law and the Police command.”

According to HumAngle report, Tunde had earlier travelled to Lagos and Abuja” and was angered by the first lady’s aides request that he self-isolate upon his arrival.

His refusal allegedly led to disagreement between the first lady and the president’s PA.

The arrested staff were security aides to the first lady which may include the Aide-de-Camp and some other key security details, according to PR Nigeria‘s report.

They were reported to have been whisked away by unidentified security personnel.

Some key security aides attached to the First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, have reportedly been arrested by personnel of the Nigerian Police. PRNigeria gathered that the aides were said to have been taken away by unidentified security operatives.

It was, however, gathered that the reason behind their arrest was still shrouded in secrecy, though PRNigeria was told by a dependable source in the Villa that those whisked away may include the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) and few other key security details of the President’s wife.
